HOW DOES IT WORK?
Solar panels convert sunlight into DC electricity by using Photovoltaic modules. Several modules are connected in series and parallel to achieve a specific voltage and current. An inverter then converts the DC electricity to AC, which then connects to the energy distribution panels of your house/office so that it can be distributed to the loads. The loads can now use the energy generated from the solar panels!
ELECTRICITY COST IS RISING
Using solar PV systems to offset your electricity usage will lower your electricity bills. Every kWh generated by the solar panels would be your savings from the distribution utilities (seen as pesos per kWh). Every year electricity cost (in PhP per kWh) is rising. According to Meralco, we can project that the electricity cost will increase 2.50% per year, thus making it really cost effective in the long term to get solar panels.
REDUCE GREENHOUSE GASES
Solar PV systems get the electricity from the sun which is free, clean and renewable. Using solar panels in your house/office reduces our dependence on fossil fuels which are one of the main sources of greenhouse gas emissions. Every kWh that we produce using solar panels is just 30 grams CO2 on average, whereas traditional sources of electricity (i.e. coal and diesel) produces 451 grams Co2. If we use solar panels, we are already decreasing our carbon footprint 15 times. Any sized solar PV system would help in reducing the pollution to the environment.
